MOPS - More Information
What Is MOPS?
MOPS exists for moms who share a similar desire to be the very best moms they can be.  It's about celebrating motherhood, meeting needs, making connections and experiencing God's love through relationships and resources.  The MOPS group at Calvary seeks to accomplish these goals by providing opportunities for moms to connect with one another in fellowship and learn helpful tips from a variety of guest speakers for navigating the challenges of parenting.  We also attempt to incorporate opportunities in which to share resources and tools required to develop essential life skills to make the most of the preschool years.
A Typical MOPS Morning...
Includes an informal time of refreshments and fellowship, followed by practical teaching on subjects relating to womanhood, marriage, childrearing and relationship all shared from a Biblical perspective.  Small group discussion follows the teaching time providing for honest interaction, deepening friendships and spiritual enrichment.  Finally, a monthly craft activity is offered promoting a sense of accomplishment through creative expression.
What is MOPPETS?
MOPPETS is the name of the MOPS children's program (infant-K) where kids spend time with volunteers who have generously donated their time and talents to teach them about God's love.  MOPPETS is NOT two hours of "babysitting".  It is a quality program designed specifically to care for the needs of your infants and preschoolers.  During our meetings, your kids will engage in age appropriate activities, crafts and songs all related to an interactive Bible story for the week, using MOPS International curriculum.  Your children will also have supervised play times and a snack.
How did this all start?
MOPS International began with eight women in 1973 meeting together in Wheat Ridge, Colorado.  For two hours these mothers talked, laughed, ate, passed a basket for childcare expenses, had a craft demonstration, and ended with a short devotional.  In this humble beginning, the seeds of the MOPS concept and format were planted.  Through friendship, creative outlets, and instruction, they began to understand that mothering matters.  Today, the same needs for significance are met in much the same way in MOPS groups across the country and around the world.

At Calvary, we also believe that mothering truly matters and we are thrilled to offer a place through MOPS for moms to connect with one another and grow to be better moms in the task of raising their kids.  We hope you'll join us for the journey!
