Short-term Impact Trips

Being the hands and feet of Jesus is one way to show God’s love. Young and old have invested their time and talents in short-term service trips, and each and every person has said their faith grew more than they thought possible. If you’re curious about serving at home or abroad, start praying about future opportunities. If you’re ready to take a leap of faith, here’s what’s next:

2017-18 Trip and Scholarship Application

FEBRUARY—Dominican Republic

Work on projects in Los Canos such as leading VBS, doing home visits with the elderly and those in need. You’ll be building relationships with community leaders, as well as Food for the Hungry staff.

Haiti team will work with Impact Partners Miradieu and Dula Estinvil in the capital city of Port-au-Prince. Projects include construction, visiting Sisters of Charity AIDS hospice (and home for malnourished children), and ministering at several other partner orphanage sites.

APRIL—Jordan and Israel

Impact Partners Charles and Beverly Kohl in Jordan, and Rami Fellimon in Israel are hosting this trip. In Jordan, the team will visit Wadi Rum and Petra to gain a better understanding of spiritual challenges in the Middle East. You’ll work with a Syrian Refugee Ministry, connect with a ministry to women in sex trafficking, and attend an Arabic church service in Amman. Visit Jerusalem and the West Bank, and partner with Jerusalem Evangelistic Outreach. The team will also tour some of the most important biblical sites in Jerusalem.

The cost for these short-term Impact trips includes airfare, visa, flight insurance, ground transportation, all meals and lodging. Registration is first come, first serve. Dominican Republic and Haiti deposit is $100. Jordan & Israel deposit is $200.


Grade 9-12 students will work with Camp Joy, Pelican Rapids Baptist Church, and Impact partner Juan Jose Felipe. They will also minister at Castaway Young Life Camp, and to the large Latino and Somali population in Pelican Rapids.

Grade 7-8 students will travel to Duluth, MN to serve with YouthWorks. They’ll span all generations as they partner with the Boys & Girls Club, local senior care centers, and work in a food pantry.

This team will travel with Calvary attenders Dr. Peter and Nancy Cole, who lead our new Impact partner, Scalpel at the Cross. On this trip, teams will assist patients at the clinic in the Amazon (the jungle, not the worldwide shipping giant…). Though the trip is not limited to those in the medical profession, an interest in medicine and/or fluency in Spanish would be useful for those committing to this trip.
