New ShelbyNext Directory!
You need an email for a friend from a Bible study. You’d like an address so you can send a card to someone that’s grieving a loss. You want to text someone a quick note. We all want to connect with others at Calvary Church. And now it will be so much easier!!! We’ve launched a new online directory (ShelbyNext) that will be accessible to members and regular attendees only.
- If you’ve not received an email from Shawn Winters with username and password to get access, that means we did not have your current email in our database. Request directory access and LOG IN HERE.
- If you do not want your info shared with others, you must OPT OUT HERE.
- Please read the directory FAQ found HERE. It will answer many of your questions!
Host Japanese University Students
Deadline to Contact Coordinator—June 1!
Japanese Student Homestay in Minnesota
August 5-26, 2019 / Bethel University
Show Jesus’ love and light to a university student from Japan by becoming a host family this summer. Students travel from Japan to Minnesota for a month of intense English language study and immersion in American culture through St. Paul Intercultural Institute at Bethel University. One of the best ways for students to improve their English is through a homestay—and family, couples, or single adult host homes are desperately needed this year!
Students attend Bethel during the day, Monday-Friday, and are with their host family nights and most weekends. You’ll help with a small amount of homework in the evenings. Then they just want to be included in your lives and activities! Those who have hosted in the past have found it to be a very rewarding experience. Transportation to and from Bethel and a $300 stipend are offered.

The Bible was written during vastly different time periods and cultures than our own. That’s why we often stumble across strange cultural practices or unknown locations when reading through a passage. Gain a better understanding of the land and culture of the eastern Mediterranean and get a better grasp of the Bible. Tucker studied historical geography at Jerusalem University College and has been to Israel, Jordan, and Egypt multiple times. (And he’s a self-proclaimed Holy Land geek.)
